What is a PEER POWER WORKSHOP? 

 

  • The Peer Power Workshop is a one-day event, typically held on a Saturday but can be held any day of the week to accomodate in-service days. This interactive workshop is kind of like a camp, crammed full of information and hands-on activities to walk you through how to peer-pressure-proof your children and students.

  • Teachers (optional professional development credits available)

  • Administrators

  • Parents

  • Social Workers

  • Children's & Youth Pastors

  • Women's Organizations and Ministries

  • Child Care Providers

  • Firemen/Policemen

  • Employeers

 

Who should host a PEER POWER WORKSHOP? 

 

  • Anyone who wants to see children free from peer pressure! This includes schools, parent organizations, women's groups, churches, civic organizations, and state organizations.

 

Why is attendance at a PEER POWER WORKSHOP important? 

 

  • We are relational beings, dealing with social issues, that require all of us to work together to overcome. A workshop/camp is the perfect way to get you and your team on the same page. This entire program is built on connecing IQ with EQ, so it only makes sense that the best way to learn it, is to experience it as the information is being presented. 

 

What is required to host a PEER POWER WORKSHOP? 

 

Host venues have different requirements:

 

  • Schools: 

    • Participation from at least 100 attendees.

    • We suggest coordinating with the other school districts in your area to either schedule sequential training dates to accomodate more teachers and their schedules or to meet minimum attendence. The more schools we can reach in your area, the more impact you'll see in your region. 

 

  • Civic or Community Service Organizations:

    • The basic requirement for any venue is at least 100 people in attendence.

    • Civic organizations may include Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Kiwanis, Girl/Boy Scouts and clubs, or any other organization deadicated to children and parent advecacy.

 

  • Church Organizations and Ministries:

    • Workshops may be youth, family, or women oriented.

    • MOPS and other women's ministries are encouraged to host this training for their churches and communities.

    • It is suggested, but not required, for the event to be hosted for multi-church/community involvement and is advertised to the public as well as among community congregations.

    • These workshops can be customized to fit your vision. 100 attendees are the minimum attendence.

 

  • Colleges or Education Advocacy Groups: 

    • Music Teachers Associations, School Counselors, PTA/PTO, Superintendents, Principals, etc.

    • Workshops are available to specialty education groups and for colleges to offer to music and education majors. 100 attendees is the minimum unless arrangements are made for specific focus groups.

 

What type of facility and technical equipment are needed? 

 

  • The facility needs to match the scope and size of the event.

    • I personally love cluster seating around tables to form small groups, If this is not available, row seating is fine in a lecture hall. It all depends on the number of participants. The more intimate the better, but the goal is always to maximize attendence to maximize the benefits.

    • A projection system for PowerPoints

    • Internet.

    • Small sound system, preferably a wireless lapel mic.

 

Costs?

 

  • No speaking stipens required, just traveling expenses for two.

  • Airfair for two, preferably non-stop, at reasonable flight hours.

  • Accomodations for two, for 2-3 nights, depending on the event requirements.

    • Mid-range or better hotel.

    • Two rooms may or may not needed depending on teaching team.

  • Meals stipens for two, for 2-3 days.

 

* Coordinate with another school and split expenses among all participing districts.
